Initial Consultation & Treatment - $85

Follow-Up Treatment - $65

Acupuncture is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practice that dates back over 5,000 years. TCM is based on the premise that disease or disharmony arises when the body is imbalanced. Acupuncture points are stimulated to create reactions in the body that help it return to a state of balance and homeostasis.

Acupuncture is performed by inserting single-use, filiform, sterile needles into the skin. As the needle is introduced into the body, many actions begin to occur biochemically, bio-electrically, and physiologically. Micro-trauma from the needle activates vasodilation, which increases the flow of red and white blood cells as well as other nutrients to the affected area. Research has also shown that many beneficial endorphins and neurotransmitters, like serotonin and dopamine, are released to help the body decrease pain and improve one’s mood. While the mechanisms of Acupuncture are not fully understood, we are seeing that it has vast affects on the body at many different levels.

The first visit will include a consultation before the treatment, which includes discussing your current condition, reviewing your past medical history, and an examination of the tongue and pulse. After a TCM diagnosis is made, the treatment will begin. Afterwards, a treatment plan will be made to determine the best course of care for you and your health concerns. Overall, this visit will last approximately 60 minutes.

Follow up visits will consist of a short consultation, discussing how the previous treatment has affected your condition. Adjustments to the treatment may be made accordingly. You can anticipate these sessions to last approximately 45 minutes.

Herbal Medicine
Herbal Medicine

Herbal Medicine is another ancient practice of TCM. Formulas are prescribed based on the individual’s constitution and symptoms. It is important to always seek medical advice when taking herbal supplements as not all formulas are appropriate for everyone, and certain formulas are prescribed for certain symptoms and for a certain amount of time.

This consultation is to discuss patient’s needs and to determine the best herbal formula for treatment. The consultation will last approximately 20-30 minutes. Some herbal remedies may be available immediately or some may be custom made and will need to be picked up at a later date.

Herbal Consultation - $35 + the additional cost of the formula

Cupping & Gua Sha

Cupping & Gua Sha treat a variety of conditions, especially pain. Other conditions include but are not limited to muscle tension, injury, stress, migraines, onset of cold or flu, allergies, asthma, digestive disorders, and gynecological disorders.

Cupping is a another TCM therapy, in which glass cups are used to create a suction on the superficial layers of muscle. Cupping may be applied stationary or sliding, depending on your constitution and condition. Gua Sha is a treatment using a Chinese spoon or custom tool that is rubbed on lubricated skin to produce a petechia or discoloration.

Both techniques, force blood cells to pass through the capillary walls by using gentle pressure/suction without damaging the vasculature or adjacent tissues. Gua Sha improves circulation and stimulates the lymphatic system to remove cellular waste. This expedites the healing process.

Cupping produces circular marks and Gua Sha produces bands of petechia, but only in areas where stagnation has occurred. Healthy tissue does not produces these marks. The discoloration associated with a Cupping or Gua Sha treatment can range from pink, to a bright red, or even to a darker red/purple. The level of stagnation will be indicated by the depth of color. Bright red is more common for those with acute injuries due to the injury being somewhat superficial and has not seeped deep within the tissue. A darker color is indicative of a deep seated and chronic issue within the body.

Chronic injuries will likely require multiple sessions. Each subsequent session should produce lighter markings, indicating that the deep stagnation is dispersing, circulation is improving, and fresh blood and oxygen are able to nourish the area. The sha, or discoloration, will take several days to about a week to dissipate.

A treatment lasts approximately 20-30 minutes as a stand-alone service.

Craniosacral Fascial Therapy - CFT
Craniosacral Fascial Therapy - CFT

Acupressure Neck Massage

Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT), is a gentle, hands-on body-working technique that provides powerful therapeutic results. This technique is often called the Gillespie Approach, as it was founded by Dr. Barry Gillespie, who combined his periodontal oral techniques with the previous works of Dr. William Sutherland's Craniosacral Therapy and John Barnes' Myofascial Release.

The Craniofascial System consists of the slight motion off the brain and spinal cord as it pumps cerbrospinal fluid into the Fascial Web. The Fascial Web is a thin casing of connective tissue that surrounds and supports every organ, muscle, bone, nerve fiber, and blood vessel in the body and it is nourished in part by the cerbrospinal fluid.

As the fascia becomes restricted, through trauma and daily life activity, it begins to restrict the movement and function of various parts of the body. The goal of CFT is to unwind the fascial strain to allow for the free movement and better functioning of the brain, spinal cord, and the fascial web encasing the entire body. By feeling the fascial strain, the therapist can help guide the body as it unwinds to release strain.

CFT, through its gentle approach, is great for people of all ages. It can be useful for many conditions impacted by fascia and the craniosacral system.

CranioSacral Therapy - CST
CST.jpg

CranioSacral Therapy ( CST ) is a gentle, light-touch method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of the craniosacral system — comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. It was pioneered and developed by osteopathic physician John E. Upledger.

By using a light touch, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system improving the function of the central nervous system as well as other systems (digestive, musculoskeletal, respiratory, circulatory) because the central nervous system touches all other body systems. CST works to facilitate the body’s natural and innate healing processes to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health.

CranioSacral Therapy is also used to help a person release from their body the residual effects of past injuries and negative experiences. Dr Upledger came to understand through research that very often, the body can retain the physical and emotional energy of trauma. These stored emotions and trauma can cause the body to develop symptoms of pain, dysfunction, and/or emotional stress. CST is a holistic mind-body, somatic approach that may assist in releasing these stored traumas and emotions restoring physical and emotional health.
